I keep making money mistakes,
Whether I have none or some it still takes,
Too much effort to track: Pay, bills, taxes, and math,
I try to save, but then spend on whim or binge,
Then debtors fetch my ends via envelopes that busts the hinge,
Of my mailbox, overdue statements and bounced checks,
Embarrassed, I pray to God, unsure what to do next,
No payday loans and ridiculous interest - what a mess!
Rewind back to a time when our bills and debt were less,
Plan, save and live below your means,
Put value in appreciating assets and avoid worthless things,
God saves, but man never forgives debt it seems...

jlmoore2 says: You capture what most of us "common" people experience everyday. It seems we have so many bills our parents never had. Who ever thought growing up you would have two water bills? (One for the house and one for drinking.) Or, multiple phone bills? Smh! Good poem. |
