Star Trek is one of those shows that I lived for. Something about the positive future that pulls me in. I was still confused in what role I would play on the show or in that life but I knew I would have a choice. I could decide to be whatever I wanted to be and be without prejudice.
The only thing that would matter is if I could do the job or not. And that is really how you shoudl feel all the time.
One of my mottos in life is simple "I didn't know I was black when I was born, I'm not going to let anyone stop me just because they figured it out."
You have to do what you need to do to be who you need to be. Period. Whatever happens after that decision is what you were supposed to be doing in the first place.
