I opened up to you
Exposed pieces of myself
I wouldn’t dare share with my own soul
I suppose you were a lesson learned
When you play with fire, respect the burn
I have extinguished love for years
Guess it was finally my turn
To feel my flame of desire smothered by a reluctant lover
Who wasn’t ready to face the cold
By surrounding herself with me
There are no hard feelings
Sometimes we lose what we want
Only to discover what it is we truly need
