courage in our courses and choices
taken from us forcibly
by controlling forces
of a deadly enemy within us
only when we recognize this
will we find hope
that having strength means
making the commitment within ourselves
to deal with our inner struggles
to acknowledge in truth
our communion is accomplished
by genuine compassion
knowing our truth does not allow
us to slip back into living the lie
we have grown comfortable with
we must reconsider the voices
upon whose sacrifice
we found our freedom
they call to us
recognize without them
we will only turn
against ourselves
in denial of who we are
turning those voices against us
thus we become our own enemies
without any other choice
except to die, screaming
against the truth
having no voice
