It’s between …day and night
At times filtered and obscured by clouds
When the stars come out to play
When children’s prayers,
Make their rounds
Our inner fences
Changed
In ways profound
Though not in ways
So easy for us to explain
Perhaps some magic potion
Discovered by accident
By the ancients
When dinosaurs were still around
(As if that were possible)
More so if our pre+versions
Of what we were to come to be
Found some advantage
In such course of choice
The rest being lost to history
But as your local astrophysicist
Could tell …temperature inversions
Which occur as the sun drops
Below the horizon
As the torrent of the heat flow
To the earth …moves to the other side
Cooling the air …bringing the animals
To another stage some come out
…some go taking to safer ground
Predators on the night watch
Patiently attentive …wait
For the young and foolish
To present themselves
To a certain fate
While on the heavens door
Unnoticed , seasons change
Is taking place …winds pouring
Opening the window to space
Let starlight …gently enter
Performing a ballet for us
As the waning light fades
Quickly the sunset drops
And fades into obscurity
Our attentions turn
Pivot in place…
Our minds refocus
…begin to shift
To drift beyond
Our being…
Allow our dreams
To take us
Over land and sea…
Restlessly exploring where
It ought to be …leading to
Life journeys not yet recognized
Much less …our families
Must be prepared to
Brought with us…
Our minds lift moods
On making observations
Of the moons rising…
Over the horizon
Looming larger than life
Before taking center stage
Then again, as our awareness
Of the night world comes
Our senses change
An inner gear
Amplifies
The contrast
By abstraction
Creating an exaggeration
World of fantasy
…perhaps of terror
When fear is near our hearts
Our Muffled heartbeats
As if possessed
By some machine
To make shallow …our breaths
Slam our hearts madly
Against our chest cavities
Tears …find their way home
When we face our demons
And send them home…
Let them depart, now
Take deep breaths
Now surrounded
By peace and calm
Unwinding our consciousness
We feel inclined to soar
Once more …above the clouds
To become …what we are not
By day …our starship
Within our minds
Take us there…
And then some
We redirect time
Light as well as sound
Master each particle
Suspended in the hourglass
Run our life backwards
Review our former choices
Armed with inner voices
Forces we turn to
Explain things
Greater than
Our minds
Grasp
Might
Otherwise
Be led to
Entertain
Thus we become
Greater communicators
With our inner selves
Taking the tools
We were born to use
Off from quiet places
They were stored
Held in suspension
For us to use
Further …in time
Now …as we pour
Our thoughts
Back into the well of souls
We take our cup
Filling it with new found vision
Redirecting energies
Rerouting our decisions
And go …on
Reborn …to tend to
Our life affairs
Give closer focus
To the near and dear…
Pay more attention
To the common ground
What’s that coming!
…it’s the next thing
We once feared
…yet now, when
The dark
Fades into the light
Again…
We look around
And nothings there
