This alternate reality we're living in,
Like someone turned the dial up to ten,
Values, opinions, life and sin,
Spun in a vortex, lost respect, can't begin again,
Mixed up in a blinder,
This has been a longest and coldest winter,
Polarized ears and eyes deceive,
Rights lost as the nation grieves,
Alternative facts told by elected thieves,
The new normal's deplorable,
The future feels horrible,
Gobsmacked back to the past,
Progress is slow, destruction is fast,
Years to grow and build,
Minutes to dig and drill,
It's cyclical and typical,
Live long enough and most experiences become applicable,
What was once important and outrageous,
Is now commonplace and contagious,
Ideals and values once personal now appear on your Facebook pages...
