there's so much crime outside
I bet when you arrive
you think you have died
for some a walk in the park
is suicide, so many put their
fear aside, walking down streets
marked with homicides
provided with no protection
at all territory markings are scrawled
on the walls, street signs, up and down
the halls of tenements, so much
evidence and ambiance of obvious
violence, enough to wish to be
stranded on an island but there's
a place we all go when things get
too hot from fire burning out of control
that place is inside, until the smoke clears then out again we go
