Scarlet Without Sin” A Spoken Word Piece

They gave her a scarlet letter

without ink, without proof, without truth,

just a whisper that slithered

through rooms she never stepped into.

A rumor…

dressed up like fact,

perfumed in assumption,

handed out like invitations to attack.

She wore red once

because she felt alive,

and they turned confidence

into something she had to survive.

See…

a woman can become a story

she never told,

a headline written in voices

that are bitter and bold.

From a glance too long,

from a smile too wide,

from existing too brightly

in a world that prefers her minimized.

They said she was “too much,”

but never said “enough” when she broke,

never stayed to rebuild her

when her whole foundation went up in smoke.

Vibing

The way my breath catches is enticing.

The look in my eye is inviting.

The touch of my hand is pulsing.

My aura is vibing.

I'm not talking about you.

I'm talking about me.

I'm looking at myself.

I'm feeling myself.

I'm digging myself.

I...lol...yeah.

In Between Time

I miss you in the in-between time.

In between the breaths I take.

In between activities.

In between the long trips, as I commute to work.

In between visits and conversations with family and friends.

In between the days and nights.

In between dusk and dawn.

In between the moments when there is nothing but quiet.

In between the sheets.

In between the continued achievements of our children.

And mostly in between the time I will see you again.

She is a Rose

Is a rose not beautiful in all its glory?

Those in possession of one often cannot wait to see it bloom.

However, of the many who want a rose, most are not cautious enough to handle a rose in its natural state.

Does a rose not have its thorns?

Only the most attentive can pluck its blooms without a prick.

The slightest fumble can cause a painful sting. 

Yet the beauty of a rose attracts many.

It is the one who waters and nurtures who will experience the greatest pleasure of all aspects of a rose. 

That rose will bloom and multiply.

The home in which this rose grows and blooms is filled with its presence and its beauty and its scent.

So also does the home which may not have grown the rose, but continues to water it will also be filled with her beauty and presence and scent for a time.

Or maybe we should hold our piece.

Pick one, peace or piece.

Shifting sands to changing plans

Gentle nurturing and helping hands

A beautiful smile and a beautiful stance

Glints of sparks in a glance

Creative and universal advance

Intricate patterns created not by chance

Healing and understanding in an instance

No sad song, not just romance

But love in a vibrational dance

There is no appreciation of life without death

No appreciation of love without hate

No appreciation of light without dark

No appreciationof the moon without the sun

No appreciation of pleasure without pain

No flower can grow and bloom without both sun and rain

Steadfast, not obstinate

Confident, not arrogant

Unshakeable and unfallable

All masculine, unmalleable

Protector, provider

A lover and a fighter

A King among kings

Leader of lords

He knows when to pick up and lay down his sword

He speaks less than he listens

Yet his words have weight

He envisions and makes his own fate

I follow his vision

He's destined to be great.
