(Apropos A Velasco Legacy)

With divine perseverance

and angelic patience,

she netted the waters of life.

Conquering

moments of loneliness

and despair,

she choose freedom

of independence and its perks.

She could do the right thing

all by herself;

giving to all that needed her.

was one powerful black woman

who mothered us all:

Lord, let me become the man

this beautiful black woman was.
