The struggle of the black woman
By Diane L. Taylor
Black woman struggles to keep her ducks in line.
She wears different hats at the drop of a dime.
She works her whole life, almost to no avail.
But dies before she can tell her tale.
Black woman born into slavery escapes abuse to be freed,
Struggles now because she can’t provide everything her family needs.
She tries and tries but nothing works.
But she’ll be damned if she gives in to defeat to disapproving jerks.
So, she keeps on, trailing on night till dawn.

But the act of injustice to her kind, she’d never excuse.
