snow, black cat & freedom
in the stilled cool air
the ebon sheened feline
cautiously stepped
through the soft falling flurries
towards the slim border
of the covered and uncovered
yet green winter lawn...
as she reached the border
and crawled through the hedges
a small clump of snow fell
from an overhanging branch
splashing an allegorical mind
message--whispering an aged image:
free at last...alive and well--free...
the sweetness of the moment
lingered long after the soft snow
had turned to twinkles in the sunlight...
