Rainbow children unite,
splashing in the pool…
running through the park
swinging and climbing
monkey bars—
oblivious to the sheeted beast
lurking in the shade
waiting to sting and separate
village children immunized
against its bigoted bite.
With undying faith, we
hopefully, watch and pray
for the coming day
when rainbow children
can grow up and gather
in this blessed way.
Meanwhile…we watch with glee
as neighbors lay in the hot sun
tanning…to be dark like you and me.
