god's trombone

but like the trane

i can axe a mean tune

of words

trumpeting be-bopping

words of truth...

sit back...no...stand

in your mind's ear

and quietly listen to

this melodic tune:

"juneteenth ain't no 4th

of july..."

civil war...

what an oxymoron...

there's nothing

civil about war being fought

in the name of peace...

but when you're "honest"

it doesn't matter...

strategy is the game

and retained power the gain...

the emanciaption proclamtion

was shrewd game plan

reconstruction backfired...

including pony express-telegraph

crucifixion...and juneteenth

resurrection...

ah...juneteenth...a celebration

of the "...slipping of chains..."

under an umbrella veiled illusion

of emancipation...keeping alive

what is yet to become...following

the "passing over" of the chains

in the saga of our story...

transitioning to ourstory...let us

upbeat the flow with talking drum

rhythms...telegraphing into our memory

the story of how far we have come...

how far there is yet to go...how much more

there is yet to do...lest we forget...

they may have slowed down emancipation

but the spirit of liberation has no restraints...

our lives they may continue to take...our dignity

and determination...never...never...our beat goes on...

goes on like newborn inchworms growing ...into

footworms...yardworms...fieldworms of liberation...

oh...yes...it's about the drumbeat rhythm

of ourstory...listen children and never miss nor forger

the rhythm..the rhythm of ourstory in drum beating

celebration...singing and dancing...grilling on...

grilling on another juneteenth...and the few others...

yet to come...ushering in total liberation...

listen to the beat of ourstory children...feel the beat

this junteenth...keep to the rhythm...ploughing

to the beat...let no 4th of july pause you...keep to the rhythm...

let no exploding firecracker get you offbeat...remember...

why they don't want us to celebrate juneteenth...but remember

4th of july:  don't ever forget...always...the devil is still a lie.
