On An End of Spring Ocean Night

CATEGORY

Escaping smoke spiraled

from a dying fire destined

to leave behind ash laden

cold pieces of coal; weak tides

slowly sneaked back out to sea;

sand crabs scooted over crystals

Above, the smiling sun

kissed the waiting breast

of the lovely horizon—both

fading into the evening shadow

In the distant east above,

full moon began to peep out;

below, her glow reflected off

the back of a mother turtle

slowly strolling the shoreline

Despite the chilled ocean breeze

accompanying the canvassing of it all,

we enjoyed the seasons’ transition:

wrapped in the night’s serene beauty
