Good apples
Fell from trees

Suffering seized

Beneath the soil lies the seed
The roots prosper from water
If money grew on trees
We’d hit the lottery
It’d be a green thumb robbery
For those who know
How to make a killing
That’s not sap
There’s blood splatter
On every branch
The leaves draped in red to match
We’re all witnesses to this silent attack
But we turn down our heads
It’s easier to pretend we’re blind
This is catastrophic
Dying by the hands of one
Who comes with a force
As great as the gun
We drop like flies
Anytime
Someone flees
From their sanity
We’re left with tragedy
A broken reality
The tree of life’s been shook
No fruit to bare
Just despair
The temptation makes you look
We turn to stone
As soon as we set our eyes
Upon the truth
Hidden meanings
Within the roots
It’s entertainment
The way we live
You want the history
Grab a shovel and dig
Below the tree of life
You’ll find old habits
Crumpled up like muddy cups
Pearls of wisdom
That have hardly been touched
The ink changed to match the season
You doubted the course before
Now you’re searching for a reason
The tree provides the oxygen we need
In order to keep breathing
Too much atmosphere leaves us wheezing
All common sense neglected-
It’s treason!
