To God Be The Glory…
(Apropos of Another Blessed Day)
In the clear
brightness of morning,
streaking clouds
froth the cerulean sky.
Birds soar effortlessly
through the air
as their companions
sit in trees
melodically chirping
a rhythmic symphony…
Multi-hued couples
pass by and wave
as they push carriages
of hand-clapping children.
In the distance,
ducks are quacking away
as they lazily cross the street.
Standing…realizing….
this canvassed moment
was not just surreal,
but a God-given reality…
I gave humble praises
and rejoiced in the grace
of yet another day of glory:
glory…glory…glory…
United in social distancing,
I went back inside…wash my hands
and with my face in their palms
I anointed myself in healing scripture—
the oil of mercy overflowing
into my saucer of grace—for my cup
of grace overflowed…and all disparity
and uncertainty faded away: God
had granted us another blessed day…
perpendicular to the terrestrial struggle…
