CELEBRATION TIME...COMING

Ah, another day risen with the sun:  perpendicular to God’s blessed

ground;

So I shall be happy to still be here struggling for liberty with a body

strongly sound;

Yes, I am happy and rejoicing that despite pandemic challenges, I’m

still around;

But oh Father, forgive me; for this day is confusing to celebrate and

has me down;

Forgive me if I periodically walk around with my beautiful face in a

dreadful frown.

You can see Father, how down the wrinkles of time, my country’s weary

tears be…

Due to the awareness you’ve enlightened all to the atrocities of racism on

people like me.

I know the founding fathers were idealistic in pending “…holding these truths

to be self evident…”

But the weary tears of history seems to assess that many of these slavers didn’t

know what the word meant.

While declaring that independence echoed the right that all should totally free,

the nation still savored slavery.

So I’m not out to ostracize the twisted wisdom of those who were deemed gifted with idealistic bravery.

But I find it most difficult to go and celebrate this day of 4th of July;

To do so would be for me to celebrate a horrific and demeaning lie.

To celebrate this day dedicated to total freedom and declared independence

Would be for my people and me celebrating slavery as something God sent.

And what of those aborigines whose land this was God-given residence.

No, I do not hate you America, the country my ancestors broke bent backs

and labor built;

I’m just a bit abhorred at how you’ve allowed the devil’s one to make you love

your racist guilt.

So go ahead and celebrate in your firecracker-billion dollar capitalist marketing

4th of July way,

As for me and my people, we shall continue to celebrate in happiness and joy…

our Juneteenth day!

So, let us give praise and thanks for another day in the struggle, irrespective of

life’s metaphoric pandemic weather;

Let’s continue to pray and work towards that blessed day when we all can all enjoy celebrating God’s gifts together!

I so love the way of your expression sir! This was heartfelt to me. I stand and agree... this is not our holiday. it is but a travesty. I don't celebrate their days either. its just another day. Yes sir TMH has given us another day of his grace during these times of confusion in this plandemic. Thank you for this share Mlowe. Peace and love to you!
