Cats clawed the surface of an abandoned mattress
Utter gutter vermin flow reeked like rat piss
Broken glass and plastic littered our path, so tragic
Weeds split pavement into uneven surfaces
Faded ancient graffiti covered fences in cursive
Malt liquor, oil, and antifreeze filled the potholes
Powerlines decorated with sneakers and faded clothes
