Like innocent trees
rooted and growing
in black social forests
we are being chopped down
by roving lumberjack-like
cabal officers of the law
as if we were arboreal-like
diseased viral black growths.
Ironically, admittance
of erroneous chopping
is a viewed jurisprudence
along that forest trail
least travelled by the blind goddess
of justice as she forgivingly hugs
guilt with a minor reprimand.
While it is true
that nature has a way
of self-redemption,
far be, it seems, for human nature
to be of the same purview;
particularly when it has been
demonstrated that her social
forest rangers are often above
and seemingly beyond the law.
How long must we allow
the black forest of humanity
to be the victim of wildfire bigotry
and blazing chainsaw- like bullets?
How long must we allow
innocent black rain forests of humanity
to be a burned-out charcoal fields
covered with falling tears of ashes?
Hear me! How long will we just sit
like frogs on lily pads of apathy?
Forgiveness is not to forget the offence
and take care of the offender, but to assure
that the offence never occurs again.
Indeed, and eye for an eye and a tooth
for a tooth never solved anything; but
there’s nothing wrong with soothing a pain
and ensuring that it never occurs again; unless
you agree it’s ok for the same to be for you.
