interwoven
Wound too tight
spills over and
shatters the air
where silence
once stood
between us

held too long falls
to the ground and
breaks the peace
within us

gathers dust and
becomes the cobwebs
of forgetfulness

carried to loosely
become the expletives
when spoken too loud
in anger

can unravel a government
and end in a pandemic
of confusion for the
world’s population

will lose their
significance when
the past is forgotten

are only as good as
the truth that is
spoken.

SOOTHING THE CONSCIOUS WHILE TURNING A BLIND EYE
FRESH NEW LIES PREPARED FOR THE DAY
TO GO WITH THE NEW SHIRT AND TIE
JUST A LITTLE MORE CROOKED AND COMPROMISED
