Today, justice raised her
Blindfold and looked out;
We jumped and shouted
In ironic celebration!
What the hell you mean,
Ironically celebrating?
Well, how ironic can it be?!
Waiting so many centuries
To celebrate justice being done
In a country whose founding
Pledge of Allegiance ended with
Words like under God, indivisible,
With liberty and justice for all?!
Ironic, indeed; can’t be both
Pro-life and pro-death penalty
Nor pro-choice and pro-death;
And does no bail also mean
No possibility of parole?!
And what about them comparing justice
For blacks with the lynching of whites?!
