Banana Now and Laters

Were once my least favorite flavor

I had to run out of cherry and grape

Before I could really appreciate the taste

Not quite like any banana that I’d ever had

The last pack at the bottom of my Penny candy bag

After a few squares, I realized that they weren’t THAT bad...

So I’d chain eat them in distress

Sometimes I’d eat even them if I was pressed

From Naptown to Decatur

I used to even eat them with bits of paper!

Tell me how it felt?

When a whole pack would melt?

Banana Now and Laters

Kids in the urban jungle like some alligators

Chomp a piece

Now at least

You got something sweet

Around your tongue and teeth

My friends didn’t witness

All of the cavities I got filled at the dentist

To this day, I still have metal fillings in my mouth

Caused by my childhood Now and Later addiction - no doubt!
