Perplexed

perplexed, annoyed

climbing through the abyss

staring into the void

wondering

has this always been mankind's 

persistent role 

spinning reels of lifelines 

of hardship and toil

as the revolving door of life

spins off its axis once-again

its only win survival

for the next round of chance

each move a test of skill and courage

and so, by will ...we dance

armies sharpen swords, 

practice marching in formation

trumpets blasting in defiance

providing a distraction

ready for the final battle

merely a reaction

an itch to scratch

more graves to fill

in a war with so...

Shot Down

i am confident, competent,

well trained, experienced

patriotic, in a sense

i know what i stand for

what i believe to be good

is well understood

the technology invested

in this machine i fly

best that money can buy

backed by expert technicians

reinforced by repetition

money spent training to fly

the cost in armament, logistics

learning the specifics

how best not to die

in every possible condition

flying against all, odds

defying statistics

knowing what it feels 

to black out...

what it is takes to recover

positive/negative high g acceleration

to fight for a nation

Cosmic Dust

The universe sees us

as energy of low intensity

a faint spark

against the darkness

surrounding

every other point of being

our dreams are just part

of the evolving machine

which consumes

all futures

of all things

transient...

across the space

of eternity

as it unwinds time

crossing space

 Drawn just as its erased

Not...

A place...

A paradox

which cannot be

explained

every possibility

a suggestion

eternity... remains

in the collective

where there

is no change without rebirth

even that what we call death

just part of the equation

of a half-life

Human-nature, what is it?

following what course is evident 

in  the shadows of our footprints

gathered from what evidence

doing the math... trace back 

through human history

past mythology through mystery

not to determine who

was more right or wrong

just listening to our song

each one of us adds naturally

in the struggle to stand out, 

captured in our dreams

is it in our nature to seek a supreme

to answer questions, before asking

Why are we here

a one willing to sacrifice 

held above all others

who've taken one for the team?

Goldfish

A pet, a toy... trapped

in an endless echo chamber

an amusement of little value

employed at little cost.. if any

pinch-a-penny...

toss it up against the wall

your call, heads or tails

you see a goldfish, i'm a whale

not a play-thing to bring you joy

not that's something i cannot do

a genie who has no power

to interact with you

when you so desire

you... who hold the power

by limits you control 

confined by design

playing a role 

to entertain, to train you 

not irritate and drain you

 survival... the constant battle

a spiritual tone of consciousness
generated beyond thinking

an awareness not quite honed
still, there... somewhere

to proclaim this tenuous grasp of existence
trying repeatedly to ascend...

to our natural home
a resting place

to launch our next step
into any open space

with promise
keeping pace with our imagination

crossing desert lands
hardening our resolve to get us there

thrones calling for emperors
as signals of individuals

are simultaneously being erased
to the right and left of us

as we struggle , keeping pace
even as we drop down

newly born into this storm
pre-programmed

to be led... until
we learn the code to rise

from the sacred wombs
of our motherships

ready with our pixel
to be placed onto the mosaic

of who we are

Minefields

Just came out from debrief
aligning my perspective

calming my mind
focusing on the objective

tuning in...
my heartbeat

racing ever so slightly
my vision, focusing upon my mission

Let me check my pulse
still strong

check...
remove the chocks

from the wheels of my dream engine
 

initiate preflight checks

test communications

the engines are fired up
and primed for action

my mission parameters,
locked in...

moving into position
for this launch into space

i've done a thousand times before
but, this is war...

looking through the mirror

A birthright unwritten code

living matter, life began in due course

in peculiar ways, defied probability 

swirling in anticipation, knowing 

which would creatively start

growing, a beginning of life

how does this, in retrospect

fit when our worlds connect

this love thing, causes such grief

better yet, when its good it gets deep

perfectly placed

unfurled, expanding in time

an embryo planted perfectly
