I killed a rooster today…
As I slit his throat, I forgot to pray
I was supposed to give thanks for his sacrifice
But after running around the coop, I lost my cool and dropped my knife!
As I gave chase and shouted obscenities, feathers and dust filled the air
I finally grabbed his feet and placed him in a metal cone/chicken snare
Quickly ending the life of one of two roosters that terrorized a flock of hens
By eating their eggs and bullying them time and again
As I bid this 'yard bird' his final adieu
I whispered in his ear, ‘cock-a-doodle-doo’
