I met her today
watching as she pulled up in the driveway
pouring long legs from the drivers’ side
dressed neatly with hair in braids
rose colored shades gave her a rosy view..
I told her I was 6-3
but am only 6-2
and she watched my moves and approved of my attire
we sat by the fire for dinner and drinks
connecting
inspecting each other superficially
taking a moment or two to daydream
sharing a scoop of apple pie and ice cream
her bright brown eyes seared into my soul
penetrating the essence of me
I had no fear
answering all of her inquiries as honestly as I could
ending our “meeting” just as it began
with another inspection
another connection…
I was going to call her tomorrow
but she asked me to call tonight
and as I turn out this light before I rest my head
I thought of how much I was impressed
not just with the long legs
bright brown eyes and lovely dress
or with the rose colored shades
hiding the bright brown eyes
I was impressed how she came without a disguise
no pretense
she came just as she was
says what she says
does what she does
and that made the difference in every way
so impressed I am
with the woman I met today
