While the past year has been challenging;
know that the new year will surely be likewise.
Let us give praises and thanks for our managing;
for we’re still here perpendicular to the skies.
So, let us not get hung up on new humdrum resolutions;
rather, let’s continue to focus on justice and its restitution.
While social distancing will remain in audacious mendacity,
let it not continue to wane our demand for justice & equality.
Whether it’s Covid-XIX, Delta, Omicron, or Omega—like the flu—
the virus is here for a while;
Likewise, the continuing struggle for the mattering of our black
lives still remain on trial.
Indeed, a new year is upon this old world’s dark shadow of death
gloomy horizon;
So, let us likewise remain on the old revolutionary battlefield until
freedom is won.
In the coming hours as we ring in and celebrate another blessed
year,
Let us give God the praises and glory for keeping us perpendicular
here.
Let us remain in good trouble knowing that God remains our strength
and our present help in the trouble thereof;
Let our light continue to shine upon our children that they may know our
blessed liberation is guaranteed from above.
