We live our lives
and like fruit on a vine,
what we give to others
is only what we have gathered
of our time in being,
both what we have
touched upon
To give sweetness
and thorns
Our most effective
means of
self-protection
To pass on
to those we touch
In such ways
as to be of influence
In this life
we do not
make the rules,
Only change them
in ourselves,
Our influence touches
Many other ways
We must speak a language
others understand
our meaning in what we say
just as they must learn
To get what we are saying,
Minimize distractions,
add loving touches
To the most effective interaction
Stop pretending
progress... as the goal
Focus on the most
