In today’s political conundrum,
It daily becomes more and more
Difficult to be optimistic—save
Faith and hope in divine intervention.
Meanwhile, we must remain vigilant
In awareness of the deceptive orations
Pontificating from the echoing buccal-
Bowels of power-hungry partisans:-
As we continue to strive for democratic equity,
Let us ever be aware and learn well the lessons
Allegorically taught us concerning partisanship:
Abe was a Republican, and Wallace, a Democrat.
Likewise, let us not forget that this so-called democratic
Republic in which we are surviving has its foundation
Rooted and tiered in an economic system called capitalism;
And you don’t need a Ph.D. in Economics to grasp its lessons:
“An economic system based on the ownership of land, factories,
And any other means of production…[goods as well as services]…
By private individuals or groups of individuals who [fiercely] compete
With one another…using hired labor…to produce goods and services.”
[Goods and services]… “offered on a free market for whatever profit
May be obtainable…” including profits from the loss of innocent lives.
Yes, as was slavery, war too, is deemed a profitable business of goods
And services—reflected in artillery production and lifeline deduction.
In conscience, if this American land is to become a truly democratic society,
Politically, it must establish and hive human needs as the basis of its economy.
Indeed, human needs must become the driving force of economic production;
Rather than the appetites of a political minority craving power and control:-
In our continuous sojourn towards true justice and equality, let us be
Forever focused and aware of the nature of the evils that confront us;
Once more and again, if there be any virtue in these penned words,
Give some thought to them, in completing this initiated poetic journey.
