In the spirit of hope
we contemplatively search beyond
the horizon for the mystic exorcism
of the pandemic deaths
proliferating from the disparity reigning
from viral medical and political infestations
decimating targeted ones of color.
However, the audacity of such hope
must be sought within the horizon—
within the horizon of the spirit of mind
and soul where abides powerful exorcism
infused with divine wisdom and guidance
that ejects the “in” out of justice.
There, the oppressed and other prey
consumed in the supportive nourishing
of the oppressors, will find the divine gift
the Creator bestowed upon His human creatures:
Choices! Yes, America! Choices to allow
and maintain fanatical racism and all the collateral
damage of its fecal defecation—
It’s a choice to oppress and to be allowed to be
oppressed;
It’s a choice to support political and economic
fascism;
It’s a choice to allow, maintain and support lynch-style
murder;
It’s a choice to support that some lives matter and others
do not;
It’s a choice to feed on lies rather than remain hungry
for justice;
It’s a choice to be silent and apathetic toward abject
tyranny!
And yes Black America, it’s a choice not to practice Black Lives
Matter!
And yes Black America, it’s a choice not to believe in our Black
Power!
And yes Black America, it’s a choice not to believe that there is
power in the vote!
We must now choose to be black and comely; not be
the American comedy!
We must now choose to be the begetters of freedom; not
the beggars of freedom!
We must now choose to make the flame of hope the child
of the burning bush of reality!
Let us realize that yesterday has come and gone and that
tomorrow is now today;
Let us realize that liberation has never been given but has
always been fought for and won.
Let us realize that due time is now and that procrastination
remains the thief of time.
Indeed, the choices we make determine the daily lives we
we choose to live.
