Taking readings
of a long forgotten culture
with a language thats been lost or obscured
In attempt to align our minds
with people lost in time
Taking data/messages etched into the pyramids
To complete a sketch of a distant reality
For what it is
was
sought
trying to be bought
A vision in a dream
a monument to greatness
Thoughtfully prescribed…
A place to pause for us to wonder
An interrupted song in the minds of ancients
A time ship sent towards the heavens
To catch the outgoing tide
To drift into the universe among the stars
Led by what was described as gods
Beyond the limits of man now or then…
or maybe not
Whether it was graffiti
a recipe
a biblical incantation
A blind date with eternity
Or proclamations of a kingdom ordained
To come into being…
this world or the next
Reading between the lines we find ourselves
Trying to read the minds of scribes,
scholars, servants
or a people far ahead
of their time
Tweaking the sun dials...
For the cues
Searching ancient wisdom for a date
Matching theoretical postulation
Fitting pieces of a puzzle
Telling a story…
Or are we
just trying to pay our dues
Recognizing ancestors who knew something better
Perhaps even things we think we do
Or is it more closely fit to portray a mosaic
Of a journey up/down the river Euphrates/Nile
Testing our skills to more accurately trying hard
To get the soft parts right…
Or are we merely inserting our marks
Adding our part to the messages
Going further down the line
Our most current best guess
Of a day in time
One of many waves of civilization
A future-prehistoric artists with scientific tools
Trying once again…
to match reason to rhyme
To interpolate a smile/frown into computer files
Pictures to the text...
Taking another look
To compare the message
with a new translation
For an uncertain audience,
Trusting to uncertain interpretations
Osmosis through a permeable mindset
Hoping our spiritual voices coincide
Ideas…
