There in the blackout of darkness

We sat in fear of rain, hail, and lightning

Of the vicious thunderstorm bellowing:-

Suddenly, the electricity was restored!

Outside could be seen broken tree limbs

And an automobile with broken windows.

Then the television came back on

With Breaking News from Texas.

We fell to our knees and cried

Tears of agony and thanksgiving

And sought understanding

Of ignored climate changes:-
