(From A Pedagogical Odyssey)
Let us be as crucible steel
Forged by the life-fires
Of the Ancestors;
Let us scratch the itching brains
Of the children we have borne:-
Let us echo like loud thunder
And let us reflect the lightening
Flashes of our mountainous triumphs;
Let us strengthen new spines
With the balms of old victories:-
Let all ignorance disintegrate
Like the froth of worn waves;
Let the dawn of a new day
Shatter the darkness of oblivion;
And let our tenacious determination
Leave molded footprints in the mud of hope;
Let our children rise above the levees of inhibition
