Ancestral soldiers of freedom
justice and equality
Made sure that they left footprints
for you and me
Likewise must we leave behind footprints
of progress
That our children may make in the liberating
process
As they cautiously travel along the native
pathway
That will guide them to the waiting gate
of today
That is to be opened with willpower
and determination
Enabling them to celebrate with elation
their liberation
From oppression and its syndrome
of self-annihilation
And the creation of a village-like Black
community
Self-sustained and rooted in love’s
