A eulogy for the invisible

Here lies Hezekiah Bernard

Aged 12 years

Found dead

Shot in the head

Wrapped in plastic

Thrown in a trash can

Hezekiah made the news for 30 seconds

Hezekiah not coming home tonight

Hezekiah wont ride a bike

Someone made his grave

A garbage can tombstone in West Philly

Do they even know his name

Here lies Hezekiah Bernard

Festering among leftovers and cast offs

A throwaway child not worthy of tears or memory

 Victim of a callous concience

The disease of indiffrence

Who loved Hezekiah

WHO LOVED HEZEKIAH

WHO LOVED HEZEKIAH

WHO LOVED HEZEKIAH

I LOVE YOU HEZEKIAH

I WILL REMEMBER YOUR NAME...

I pray the violence and killings and crime would stop. This child had so much life to live. Let us all live to tell the story. Well written.

Hezekiah Bernard! Rest in peace! A profound true poem of "wakeup calling", Coalhouse. We got to put an end to the murderous trashing of our Youth by both us and our oppressors.! The goal of the oppressor---with the aid of the "Oppressor Syndrome"---is to control our future via the elimination of our HEZEKIA BERNARDAs! Let's get to work! ONE. Peace and Love
