Today a growing reality confirmed itself
With me,
And it became clear to me I’m not as old
As I once was;
But the eerie thing that was the cold slap
In the face,
Was the painful fact that I’m more than just
A little bit older:-
They say that with age comes so much more
Wisdom,
But failed to underscore that with aging, comes
New physical pain;
And when you’ve never been this old age before,
It’s indeed new!
Your body refusing to do so much of which it once
Was able to:-
Suddenly you realize that 99% of your high school classmates
Have passed on,
And that God still has you here standing perpendicular
To the ground—
That He still has labors of love that remain here you
To yet repeat;
For those who will still be here doing the same when
You’ve gone on:-
Remembering the many crosses that God has resurrected
You from,
You get down on those painful aged bending knees and give
Him the glory:-
For you are just as those old naked sage trees seen still standing
In the cold winter;
And this new pain is just a spiritual reminder of your sojourn in
The Shepard’s footsteps!
Being re-barked and re-greened by the Holy Spirit with healing
Strengthen faith,
I push up on these blessed bending and straighten-aged knees
God has given me;
And prepare to get back out there and continue to serve God by
Being in and of service to others—
Reflecting Jesus’s supreme love and being an ebon instrument of
The divine Trinity:-
