Dear Mademoiselle Carroll

By: Keith Fuchs

A photograph or video on YouTube
Behold the imagery of this girl so heavenly
Formulate a conspiracy to get to meet this girl
And take her out to a movie
But she's far away
Not even another state
A country half way to Germany
It burns me, I pursue it with an urgency
To communicate with her effectively
All channels, options and methods
Fate is like dice, I throw snake eyes
It would have been nice to toss an eleven
So I can have seven minutes with this majestic mistress
Maybe if i was lucky, we'd dwell on the same street
I'll take borough, at the very worst
We could have crossed at a bar or club in the hub
I'm left to wishful epiphanies
Which cycle round Picadilly
All this from a girl I didn't meet
From a voice speaking to me through a PC screen
It's sad and depressing
Because she probably with another fellow undressing
Begging for a handful of seconds
Most likely, her and I will never greet
With a chance to admire the gleam in her eyes I saw from a tweet
So I'm left to fantasy where she fancies me
Conversing over a cup of coffee
At a corner bistro, discussing the aggro
Enjoying the company
I mustn't forget its not reality
It sucks cause I'm twenty five and lonely
But she is so neat, and i'm quite lowly
Other ladies pale in comparison
Her eyes provoke paralysis
Is it just me? or am I being a geek?
6 billion 6 hundred million
people on this earth
You only want one and she is worth
The sum of the strain, strife
and girth
I paint her portrait on my easel
Affixed in my heart, stabbing me like a steeple.
I wrote 33 pages of poetry from staring at her pupils
What does it mean? It'll never be read
Even if she did, I might as well be dead
Cause my photograph and profile won't save me
from the inevitable.

The Immortal Wize says:

This poem is superb and even more impressive when read backwards,

Thank you Wize Dom, I appreciate the kind words they very much mean a lot because this was a very hard to poem to write due to the emotional toll it took on me.

love_supreme says:

Wow, that is sincere longing. Very nice.
