Till Death Do You Part

There is nothing you can do
As you witness the full view
Of reality collapsing so gently
Beneath your feet
That thing we call love
Manifested within centerfolds
Your s*** hung out on walls
You watch the entirety of the world
Around you, fall
We've all been through this
 It begins with a kiss
An everlasting dream
Courtship, honeymoon
Next comes the fining
Two lovers to escape without
A trace
Just the place where they can getaway
What happens when the arms so safe
Become the very power that generates
The strength to hit you in the face
A small argument turned a harmless evening
into a nose bleeding rendition of sorrows
And begs
Your other, has not a leg to stand on
So far they have just paved the rage
On an open road made to sway
Nobody wins this game

That person you thought you knew
Laid their hands on you
Yet you question yourself
Walking upon the egg shells
You can hear them crack beneath
You don't know how but you want to leave

You said if they ever cheat
It's over, you swear
You'd never allow your relationship to get there

Keep lying to yourself
Remember last week
Same dance, different song
Never thought you'd catch them with the wrong one
Must have been something you done

Fix your hair
Buy something cute
Cook up a five course meal
Call it your cry for help
The desperation for somebody to hear

Start over
This time you both be real
Begin each day explaining how you feel

By communicating no problems should arise
What you don't realize is you will be met by your demise

Time to find a new fantasy
Who else can you latch onto to set you free

You want the one that treats you poorly
Time flies soon you'll be forty

Still bouncing between sheets
Looking for love
Because if it were up to you
You'd be down on your knees
Waiting for the chance to plead

Never mind your dignity-

As long as they see

It's not your job to shape their character
Yet it makes you feel better
Knowing you could awake
To see that smiling face

Back to that place

The memories of disappointment hang
Blinded by alcohol, lust and
Drugs

 Disconnect,
You must

Bound by love

Broken trust
Broken nose
Maybe then they'll know

This means unconditional

Tomorrow a brand new start

 But don't forget

Till death do you part
