(old song lyrics I found in my "attic..")

sometimes I happen to pass by
and there’s a light in the living room window
another car is parked beside your door
I keep on going and don’t look back
but the tears start to flow
and I find myself missing you more and more

too much time we spent together
too many places that we’ve been
too many memories that just won’t go away
someone else might be right in front of me
but looking back I just can’t see tomorrow
because it’s hard for me to get through yesterday

I find it hard to go ahead
looking at you from the rear view mirror
wishing what’s ahead for me
will once more find you there
how can I just go ahead
when I’m seeing you in the rear view mirror
praying what’s ahead for me
will once more find you there again
there again
there again for me

a cruel twist of fate
a puppeteer who cuts the strings
while we were dancing to the melodies of love
what we were defied all rules
none of this was supposed happen
what in the world were we ever thinking of?

somehow we made it happen
people stopped and stared at us
people who didn’t even know our names
now we barely talk to one another
not sure if it’s chance or choice
wondering if our feelings will ever be the same

how can I go ahead
looking at you from the rear view mirror
wishing what’s ahead for me
will once more find you there
how can I just go ahead
seeing you in the rear view mirror
praying what’s ahead for me
will once more find you there again
there again
there again for me

if we ever once were happy
I know it can happen once again
if you look for me or call for me
I’ll be right there by your side
letting go is never easy
the fall is hard and heavy
the weight is great
and heaven knows I’ve tried
so now I’m driving down the road
not seeing what’s in front of me
is it rain on my window
or the tears clouding my eyes
and there you are
in the rear view mirror
sinking slowly out of view
I have never been good with good-byes

so how can I go ahead
looking at you from the rear view mirror
wishing what’s ahead for me
will once more find you there
how can I just go ahead
seeing you in the rear view mirror
praying what’s ahead for me
will once more find you there again
there again
there again for me
