The Ancestral Mechanics of Vodou

CATEGORY

The Rite, the Tools, the Spirits, the Workers
To reclaim our rite, we must correct the confusion that colonizers created. They blurred lines on purpose. They mislabeled us on purpose. They twisted our cosmology on purpose.
Vodou is not Hoodoo. Vodou is not witchcraft. Vodou is not paganism.
These systems are not the same.

Vodou
Vodou is a religion. A structured ancestral cosmology with:
Loa Houngan Mambo Hounsi Hountogi Ogan Sacred Chants Ceremonial dances Possession rites Ancestral offerings Ritual altars Cosmic alignment
Vodou is West African spiritual science carried through the Middle Passage and reborn in Haiti.

Keep in mind, the spelling 'voodoo' is the Americanized Hollywood, colonial spelling created to: mock, demonize, sensationalize, distort, misrepresent the real religion.

Hoodoo
Hoodoo is not a religion. It is folk magic.
Hoodoo uses herbs, roots, powders, candles, psalms, charms, gris gris.
Hoodoo has no Loa, no possession rites, no priesthood.
It is African rootwork, not Vodou.

European Pagan Witchcraft
European witchcraft is rooted in Celtic, Norse, Germanic, and Greco Roman traditions.
It uses circles, wands, runes, moon rites, European deities.
It has nothing to do with African cosmology.
The word witch is European, not African.
Colonizers called Africans witches because they did not understand our rites and feared them.
This is where the whitewashing began.

Ceremonial Tools
Candles
Gateways, Offerings, Energy Markers, Spiritual Beacons
Candles existed in African rites long before colonizers arrived.

Chants
Invocations Frequency work, Gate opening, Trance activation, Spirit alignment.

Drums
The heartbeat of Vodou Communication, Ancestral Technology, Cosmic alignment.

Gris Gris
Power objects Bundles, Charms, Talismans
Used for protection, healing, clarity, justice, strength, also used for binding, reversing, banishing, cursing.
Gris gris are neutral. Intention determines effect.

The Bokor
A Bokor is a Vodou sorcerer. Not a priest. Not a Mambo. Not a Houngan.
A Bokor works both hands.
The hand of healing and The hand of harm.
A Bokor uses spirits, powders, mirrors, crossroads energy, gris gris, binding rites, reversal rites.
A Bokor is not evil. A Bokor is intentional.
Vodou priests serve the community, Bokors serve clients.
Vodou priests maintain balance, Bokors manipulate energy.
This is the truth, Not the Hollywood version.

Why This Knowledge Matters
Because people confuse everything.
Vodou with witchcraft. Hoodoo with Vodou. Paganism with African cosmology. Bokors with evil priests. Gris gris with spells. African rites with dark magic.
