The Rite, the Tools, the Spirits, the Workers
To reclaim our rite, we must correct the confusion that colonizers created. They blurred lines on purpose. They mislabeled us on purpose. They twisted our cosmology on purpose.
Vodou is not Hoodoo. Vodou is not witchcraft. Vodou is not paganism.
These systems are not the same.

Vodou is a religion. A structured ancestral cosmology with:

Vodou is West African spiritual science carried through the Middle Passage and reborn in Haiti.

Keep in mind, the spelling 'voodoo' is the Americanized Hollywood, colonial spelling created to: mock, demonize, sensationalize, distort, misrepresent the real religion.

When The Moon Enters Shadow: A Partial Lunar Eclipse Reflection Across Sky And Spirit

A partial lunar eclipse is never just an astronomical event.
It is a moment when the sky pauses, when the Sun and Moon exchange their ancient vows through the quiet body of the Earth.

The Sun stands in its golden stillness, the Moon drifts into the soft cradle of shadow, and for a breath in time, light becomes memory and memory becomes revelation.

Across cultures, eclipses have always carried a hush, a sacred pause and in my Creole and Haitian heritage, this hush is not fear, but reverence.

It is a time when the women within my culture, my famly, must step into our ancestral roles as keepers of balance, protectors of the home, and guardians of spiritual clarity.

During any eclipse, we adopt what our elders call sacred pleasantries, gentle practices meant to honor the sky and steady the spirit.

We do not call upon darkness.
