Who and what is a Delta and what makes you so unique; as I began to learn of you, it was like examining a rare antique
As your history starts to get long, you keep getting strong; the words are in your hearts, so you can’t change your song
As you near this; your historic centennial celebration; you can look back, at the courageous twenty two with inspiration
Through their diligent effort, these ladies paid the price; On January 13, 1913, Delta Sigma Theta, broke through the ice
In a far distant land, far away from this bison birth; eight Delta sisters unite, to make it seem like, the best place on earth
Kandahar Afghanistan, brought you together physically here; but a pledge you made long ago, will always keep you near
They’re triangular ladies, in this very dangerous combat zone; as true Delta sisters, they know they’re not here all alone
When you walk a mile with a Delta it seems to brighten the road; does she use her inner strength, to help lighten the load
Some of you took up guns, as you put down your kitchen knives; some of you came here single and others came as wives
Whether it’s in or out of uniform, all of you look very superb; as you truly embody the creed, a sisterhood called to serve
Can I call you ladies warriors, on life’s battlefields; as in your heart, you chose to stand for a cause, now it’s been revealed
As I know this one particular Delta sister, who is truly one of a kind; if she is the typical Delta, then give me a Delta mind
One of you, it’s a joy to know, the other seven, I feel; the spirit shown by one sister, lets me know, the rest of you are real
I don’t know about the seven, but I see good when it comes my way; if #one likes you, it means you’re better than okay
I have seen Delta Beauty and I have also seen Delta Pride; I believe what makes you so special, is what shows from inside
Can you sum up a Delta, placing her into the proper context; or does it require a special code, as they are easily complex
Deltas are not short or tall, nor are they dark or light; each one has a uniqueness, which serves to make the others just right
As I view the each of you it’s obvious and very clear to see; that there is no simple template, Deltas possess great diversity
There’s a common theme, which has you in this place; and it reiterates the sisterhood’s concern, for the entire human race
Deltas pledges are made up, of every wholesome kind of girl; walking into their blossoming sisterhood, all over the world
Each of you has come to serve, in a somewhat differing capacity; what serves as your bonding agent, is your pure veracity
Friendship and sisterhood, are words that are often misused; as I view each of you, I am sure you never get them confused
In Afghanistan or America, you are standing tall and looking good; it matters not where you stand, you do it in sisterhood
I am glad that you are in service, as soldiers, civilians and ladies supreme; not only are you Deltas, you are Deltas extreme
