At night in bed I lay
Heavy on my mind
I didn’t get shot today

I wake up in the morning
I pray dear God
Don’t let me get shot today

Grab my bag
I’m on my way
At this intersection
I’m well aware
I could get shot today

If I cut someone off
Look at them wrong
With a mean mug
On my face
I could get shot today

If I get lost on the way
I could get shot today
Hit by a stray

If I see a scuffle and decide
To stand in the way
I could get shot today

Step on a foot
In a pair of  new J’s
I could get shot today

Wearing red or blue
Black or brown
I could get shot today

If I hear
CLIK CLICK
And don’t run away
I could get shot today

I understand the
Ramifications of the
Situation
In this certifiably crazy
Society

I could possibly get shot
