I'm writing you this letter today because I want you to know that giving up is not an option I SAID GIVING UP IS NOT AN OPTION

See we live in a world where your going to be judged by the color of your skin or the thickness of your wallet, the clothes you wear, and the slang you speak

BUT you have something that no one can take away you YOUR MIND

You were born in a world were the possibilities are endless a world where you can become a doctor, a lawyer, a teacher, even the President

See you can be anything that you choose to be if you put your mind to it

If you go to school and get your education because remember knowledge is free and you must accumulate as much of it as possible

Because your mind is going to take you places, it will take you everywhere that you want to go

But you must listen, and you must learn, and you must read, and you must write, you must study and explore and never give up

BECAUSE GIVING UP IS NOT AN OPTION

See you can't fall victim to society's stereo type a what a black man and a black woman should be and yes they may look down on you and talk behind your back but listen MY BABIES you must never let them push you off track

Let the non-believers motivate you to be better than yesterday, to rise above all of the negativity

PLEASE listen to me

And although your mother was not all that she could be and your father what's not around as much as he should be don't let that discourage you from being all that you can be

Because I will always love you and I don't regret the sacrifices I had to make to raise y'all to be strong and successful, independent and free, to be who you choose to be

But be mindful of those people who don't have your best interest at heart who secretly want to see you fall apart

And always stay humble and respect yourself and others

Keep your faith in God and pray everyday

Don't let the rain take your sunshine away

Don't follow the crowd and be yourself

And YOU MUST LOVE YOURSELF BEFORE YOU CAN LOVE SOMEBODY ELSE

And always remember the words that I said

Through the mud and the rain, the hurt and the pain, the ignorance and defeat, the lies and the backstabbing, the hating and the manipulating Remember that there is a blessing and every lesson and one day you will see that God gave you those battles to make you strong and with him by your side you are never alone

So always remember and dont u forget
