I stubbed my toe and pain radiated. A man gave child birth as a nerve swelled and inflamed. This was life. I felt it. In that moment there was nothing more important to me than that toe, that nerve, that pulsating.
Loud in my ears and deafening. The background fell out of the world and it was me and you. My toe.
Where have you been my whole life, being taken for granted from one sidewalk crack to the next. I never meant to ignore you.
And to make it worse, I stubbed you.
But I was alive today. I squelched and I knew for certain that the world squelched with me. They could feel my pain, my nerve, my pulsating.
I was alive today.
