Here among the shooting stars of hope,
peace---scans the universe---
sprawled out on its own cosmic stage
seeking space it can call its own.
Sailing on the milky way of these tornadic times,
teased with valorous deceit---
honoring death---
mocking rights to life, liberty and happiness,
new pirates sail sullen shores
searching new ways to tell ancient stores of discovery;
catalogued and stored in annuals of distorted history.
In the infinity of it all, galaxies of deterred peace
cringe in universal despair; life imploding
into its own black hole---
seeking a lost humanity that once exploded
a celestial aureole surrounding a big bang
of creation tinted on the canvas of time.
Oh, if only we could be witnesses to new beginnings
of lasting peace;
rather than sad heirs of the destructive here and now.
