Because I love you
I see what no one else sees
From the moment I thought of you
To the time you came to be.
Through the years
As you learned right from wrong
You were in and out of trouble
Trying to fit in where you didn't belong.
I didn't intervene then because I loved you.
I gave you every opportunity
To turn your life around
You hollered, cursed and screamed at me
But I never made a sound.
I did this because I loved you.
Even when your demise was prayed for
I stood by you and said, no!
My child will be fine
You just needed a chance to grow.
I did this because I loved you.
I did my best to show you
How you were hurting those around you
You didn't seem to care much
While everyone frowned upon you.
I have to do this because I love you.
Peace and relief came into play
When I answered everyone's prayers
I chose to take your life
Because you never cared.
I didn't want to do this but I loved you.
I tried to tell you in so many ways
Even when others couldn't see
Why it was I chose
To love you unconditionally.
I did all of this because I loved you
But I love them all too.
