Strength is one of the heaviest
Weights you’ll ever have to carry
In your life.
Having strength is great
But it can get heavy at times
If you don’t have others
That are strong with you.
It can lift you up
But its weight can break you down.
You see,
Being strong for too long
Starts feeling like a repetitive song.
You get tired of it.
You get tired of it
To the point where the can’ts,
Won’ts and don’ts
Show up and show out,
Anxiety begins to settle in
It’s new place as it
Pushes peace out
Your heart gets heavy,
Like lead is coursing
Through your veins
Your hands are hurting
From holding onto the reins
And no matter how
Hard you try to keep closed fists
The leather burns through
Your fingers as it unravels
With every twist.
I get it, I truly do get it
It can be frustrating at times.
We’ve all been there
At one time or another.
Some of us probably are
Right now and unknowingly
Needs to hear these words.
Because the moment your strength
Really begins to shine
Isn’t when you’ve got all the
“I’ve got this” in the world
And your chest is all poked out!
It’s when you accept that
It’s okay not to be strong
All the time
That’s what it’s about.
So let it go.
And soon you’ll feel
Your fingers no longer burn
Your hands no longer hurt
Your heart lightens and
Your peace is reclaimed
As your strength is regained
Because strength of others
Is allowing you to heal.
And as you continue traveling
Down life’s road remember
These words to be true:
If your strength and hope
Begin to unwind like fraying ropes
There’s a safety net beneath you.
It’s okay not to be strong all the time.
