In the halls of truth 
which open 
…just before 
you arrive 
at the gates 
of heaven
It has been 
suggested thus, 
saint peter 
is but another wraith
The humble doorman 
…should a spirit 
be self+judged worthy
Having walked 
the course 
of fate 

…be wary 
where you dare 
to tread, 
Whose soul 
you touch 
…determines 
which part 
of your heart is judged
There is no harder task than that …
Truer hearts than ours 
…have fought this war, 
pained and suffered much
Still too many more 
have fallen short 
…to find 
their dreams denied
Given more than their share 
Discord and strife
…so that others might survive
Countless 
courageous 
wounded souls 
have bled this path before you
Though many cry 
for some 
obscure sense of freedom 
…to be restored
 Be careful 
what you pray for  
…its cost is not so 
easily procured
still
though the path 
be hard and long
do not lose heart…

Do not worry 
for minor indiscretions 
are ignored
In the course 
of things 
much greater 
hanging 
…in the balance
Your part 
to maintain the dream 
…your share 
of the reward
Dare you 
demand more 
…pray justice
 stays its sword
Before you’ve 
mastered 
the basic 
understanding 
and make 
meaningful contribution 
to just course 
…of this 
life’s accord

If truth and love 
becomes your creed 
…thus endowed
You may pass 
through 
the gates 
…well received
And if your life 
is judged well
Pray that 
a higher power 
exists
As time will tell
Sufficient 
before those 
proven beyond doubt
In the light 
of wisdom shared 
…be aware, here
False pretense 
is not allowed 
…fools are banned 
for after+life
If you be born 
100,000 times 
more+again
…be merciful, 
that you might 
be spared
before
