A woman is married, and now in love,
To her man who she thinks only of.
One day they get into an argument,
He hits her, she falls down pregnant.
He says, “That's not what I meant to do!”,
Lies are truths, as she cries, “ I believe you!”
Again, she sees a woman hit by a man,
Still, she justifies ways to understand.
Staying in what she feels marriage is,
Wanting to stay a family for her kids.
Believing in till death do us part,
Yet, all the love is dead in her heart.
Thinking she can't afford to live all alone,
Trapped behind walls in an abusive home.
Living for this man in his own world,
On the outside a woman, inside a girl.
He hits, cusses, and cheats on her again,
She thinks it will get better and end.
She starts to think it's all her fault,
A half true lesson her pain has taught.
Every other day he curses her out,
A reality for the kids what life is about.
People see the problems, and ask,
Lying she wears a make-up mask.
In her heart, she can no longer lie,
The hurt to bear is too much to deny.
She must find a way out to leave,
Her blind eyes have come to see.
No longer can she hide her fears,
Rivers cry from her eyes, as tears.
Confusing love with the pain she feels,
She must leave soon before he kills.
The next time he hits her, she goes,
This isn't a way of life she now knows.
Gaining the courage to finally leave,
The girl inside of the woman is free.
