one time I looked and I saw
some people spreading their
wings kicking and splashing
in the deep it looked like fun
so welcoming and easy to me
but when I jumped in water
touched my feet I started to
drown immediately suddenly it
came to me I could not swim
thinking to myself upon rescue
what was I thinking it was not
easy to do could have been
the last of you drowning
in that pool but I thought I
could do what I saw others
do without first learning how
to struggle before I could fly
