when I see my reflection
I gain a sudden impulse
to reach in and snatch myself
to safety without breaking
this crystal soul inside of
this darken bruised flesh
captured is how it feels
captivated it how I see it
wandering around trying to
get on the other side
where I too also reside beside
ripples of swirling water
struggling to stay afloat
to gain a piece of liberty
casting a shadow back at me
like a lifesaver pulling me in
when I want to stay in the deep
